According to Blizzard, the reason BlizzCon 2022 was canceled is because it is a massive event that requires the effort and time of the entire company.
“Hosting a live BlizzCon is an epic and complex endeavor that requires many months of preparation, not only on our part, but also for our partners, esports professionals, presenters, entertainers, artists, and other talented collaborators with whom we we partner locally and globally so that everything fits together perfectly, “the company said.
“The continuing difficulties and uncertainties of the pandemic have affected our ability to advance in many of these aspects and, in the end, we have exceeded the deadline that allows us to organize the type of event we intended for November,” the statement said.
In late May, when BlizzCon 2021 was canceled, the studio reported that its plan was to host a global event in early 2022 in which it would present components both in person and online. But this will not happen.
In such a way that this is the third consecutive year in which this event will be suspended, since the 2020 and 2021 editions were also canceled due to the pandemic, this while the company is involved in a scandal related to complaints that revealed its work environment with harassment and abuse.
