technology companies Adobe and Activision Blizzard are launching generative artificial intelligence toolsalthough each of them claims that the AI tools are there to help humans create content and that they will not replace jobs.
On May 23, the graphic software giant Adobe released “Generative Fill” which will allow users to “generate content from within Photoshop with a text prompt”.

On the same day, The New York Times reported that Allen Adham, chief designer at video game company Activision Blizzard, told his employees in an email last month that he is exploring the use of image-generating AI to aid in game design.
Adobe’s new tool is intended to be a “co-pilot” alongside humans, not a substitute for graphic designers.
Andrew Guerrero, Blizzard’s vice president of global perspectives, expressed a similar opinion, stating that the goal of its AI tool—Blizzard Diffusion—”is to eliminate a repetitive, manual process and allow artists to spend more time on creativity”.
For his part, Chandra Sinnathamby, Adobe’s director of digital media and Asia-Pacific strategy, told The Guardian on May 23 that their tool “was meant to be a co-pilot to speed up the process and not completely replace graphic designers”.
Sinnathamby said that precautions had been taken to avoid confusion between what humans have done and what has been generated by AI. Also Artists who have contributed stock photos are paid when used by AIsaid.
Adobe and Blizzard aren’t the only tech companies excited about generative AI.
On May 23, Nikesh Arora, head of cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks, appeared on Mad Money with Jim Cramer to trumpet the advantages of generative AI for cybersecurity.
I declare that its implementation will significantly increase efficiency and allow the company to “double its size in the coming years without having to proportionally increase the number of employees”.
Progress comes when OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, has warned that in 10 years “AI systems will exceed the skill level of experts in most domains” and has called for more government oversight of AI development.
Many have expressed their concern about potential job losses due to AI advancement and adoptionwhile others have claimed otherwise, saying that technology could create as many new jobs as are lost.
