American journalists Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert, currently based in El Salvador, believe that bitcoin (BTC) has the power to transform the world. So for that reason they are delivering rewards in satoshis (the minimum unit of cryptocurrency) with the idea of promoting citizen participation and community awareness around caring for the environment.
That was what made it possible, a group of salvadoran volunteers who value bitcoin, will participate in cleaning days that were carried out yesterday in the surroundings of the Tomayate River and on the bridge that connects the neighborhoods of San Francisco and Los Angeles in the municipality of Apopa, Department of San Salvador.
“Great morning in Apopa handing out bitcoin from Bitfinex to anyone who has a QR code and is willing to help us clean up the trash under the bridge that connects the San Francisco and Los Angeles communities,” wrote Herber on his Twitter account.
The journalist also showed before and after images of the recovered area, showing that are working on behalf of bitcoin so that it is understood that the leading cryptocurrency is crucial for communities that have been neglected for decades.
An inhabitant of the San Francisco community said to Max Keiser who has learned to safeguard value with bitcoin. At the same time, he thanked for the recovery of an area that is regularly traveled by more than 3,000 people who live in the surrounding area.
Herber and Keiser would also have done a donation of more than USD 50,000 in bitcoin to support entrepreneurship in the areaaccording to a publication of the Salvadoran deputy Leonel Uceda.
As previously reported by CriptoNoticias, Herber and Keiser created an investment fund, called El Zonte Capital (EZCAP), which is focused on companies developing new advancements for the bitcoin economy. The solidarity project later received a contribution from the Bitfinex exchange.
Like Ilopango and Soyapango, Apopa is a super charming area with colorful houses, little shops, and interesting restaurants. I am happy that they can now also enjoy the blessings of economic freedom,” Herber added on Twitter.
