June begins, summer season in the United States, and Bill Gates Come back with your reading recommendations. But he also adds a Netflix series: he published everything on his blog, Gates Notes.
“For the past decade,” the billionaire and philanthropist wrote, “I have recommended great books to read each summer. This year I decided to mix it all up and try something different (…) Whatever your summer plans, I hope you find something here that will help you make the most of them.”
The books are one novel and one non-fiction, while the Netflix series is a drama set in Denmark.
First book recommended by Bill Gates: Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
the novel is Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow (Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow), by Gabrielle Zevin. “It tells the story of Sam and Sadie, two friends who are brought together by Super Mario Bros. as kids and grow up to make video games together,” says Bill Gates.
The tycoon was very identified with the story, even reminding him of his “Relationship with Paul Allen and our joint work at Microsoft.”
“Zevin is a great writer who It makes you care deeply about their characters.” Gates stresses.

Second book: Born in Blackness
Born in Blackness (Born in blackness) was written by Howard French, and it becomes Bill Gates’ second recommended book for summer 2023.
“I learned a lot from this thoughtful and well documented book points out the creator of Microsoft. “French, a journalist of African descent, challenges standard Western accounts of the continent’s history.”
I mean it as a compliment when I say that Born in Blackness I let wanting to know more” added the philanthropist.

The Netflix Series: Borgen
Finally, the Netflix series recommended by Bill Gates is the political drama borgin (2010). Created by Adam Price, directed by Soren Kragh-Jacobsen and Rumle Hammerich.
Hard four seasons, with 38 episodes in total, and stars Sidse Babett Knudsen, Birgitte Hjort Sorensen and Pilou Asbaek.
“I’m fascinated by how political coalitions come together and stay together, and I loved watching Prime Minister Birgitte Nyborg figure it all out,” says Bill Gates. “She is a principled and gifted leader who is also fallible and sometimes wrong.”
