We know about the passion of Bill Gates by science and technology, but few knew that it has a spectacular periodic table in his office. It is not a fence, nor is it a table itself, but a wall with several of its elements.
The periodic table is a 19th century creation, published by the Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev. serves for order the chemical elements according to their atomic number, their electron configuration and their chemical properties.
With the passage of time, the periodic table was receiving more and more elements, as they were discovered.
In the case of Bill Gates, the main characteristic is that it has with a tangible example of almost all chemical elements. You can’t have them all because there are several that are dangerous to your health, others that are very rare to get and some that need to be in special environments.
This is the periodic table that Bill Gates has in his office
The photo of the periodic table was shared on the social network Reddit, where the creator of Microsoft interacts from time to time.
Each corresponding compartment to one element is covered by a glass facade.
In accordance with tech blog, among the most curious that are represented on the wall of Gates stand out:
- The einsteinium, which has a picture of Einstein.
- polonium, with the coat of arms of Poland.
- AND gold, with an Intel Pentium Pro processor, with more than 400 mg of the chemical element.
But as special as it is, Bill Gates’s periodic table is not one of a kind. He has a “twin sister” in Radboud University, in the Netherlands, with 85 of the 118 items.
It is a very ingenious sample that helps to further understand the wonderful world of chemistry.
