The London home of actor Benedict Cumberbatch was attacked and damaged by a former chef who possessed a knife. Cumberbatch was with his family when Jack Bissell, 35, knocked on the front lawn gate.
Cumberbatch and his family is attacked
Cumberbatch, his wife and their three children were home when the man arrived: “I know you moved here, I hope it burns down,” Bissell yelled, he told the court.
Bissell pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Wood Green Crown Court and was fined £250. In addition, the court imposed a three-year restraining order on him that prevents him from going anywhere near Cumberbatch and the entire area where he lives.
Bissell’s violent acts against Cumberbatch
Until now, there were no details of the case, but the Daily Mail reported what the results of Bissell’s offense against Cumberbatch were. It emerged that Bissell had a previous job as a chef at a Mayfair hotel until 2020.
When the chef entered the actor’s home, he uprooted a plant from the garden and threw it against a wall before spitting on the intercom and flashing the knife. Although he fled the scene, he was arrested following DNA results found on the intercom.
“Benedict and Sophie have spent sleepless nights”
A source close to Cumberbatch told the Daily Mail: “Naturally the whole family was absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to come in and hurt them.”
“Fortunately, it never got that far. Benedict and Sophie have had many sleepless nights since they worried they might be attacked again,” the source added.
Given the events, it is not clear why he forced his way in or why he said he would burn it, nor why Bissell targeted Cumberbatch and did not want a defense in court.
