The qualifying session for the Belgian Grand Prix had to be interrupted as a result of an accident involving Lando Norris at the start of Q3. A few seconds before, Sebastian Vettel had called for a red flag.
Sebastian Vettel has been very critical of the FIA and its race director, Michael Masi, after the accident suffered by Lando norris in Eau Rouge and that he has destroyed his McLaren on all four sides.
The British driver got out of the car on his own foot and without apparent serious injuries, although with visible discomfort in his left arm.
The first to arrive at the place has been Sebastian vettel, which seconds before had requested the red flag by radio, considering that the runway was excessively wet and there was a serious risk of aquaplanning.

The German has been informed of the accident by radio and, while approaching the scene, has been very critical by radio. Subsequently, he has stood by Norris to make sure he was conscious and out of harm’s way.
- Engineer: «Red flag, slow down. Norris, big accident, lots of wreckage.
- Vettel: «What the hell did I say? What did I say? Red flag!”.
- Engineer: “Be careful, lots of scraps.”
- Vettel: «Yes, damn. Unnecessary. It’s okay?”
- Vettel: “Okay, okay.”
- Engineer: «Yes, continue».
This situation adds to the concern of many pilots for the state of Eau Rouge and its escape, which tends to bounce the cars that hit the barrier back onto the track.
