Although respect for the location of sanitary fixtures and furniture in a bathroom greatly facilitates their renovation, changing the location of these elements is necessary if, as in this case, it involves a substantial improvement in its distribution.
The biggest defect of the bathroom before the reform but a complicated distribution with the toilet and the shower at the entrance narrowing its passage and making it very difficult to circulate.
Carmen Castro of Casas A Punto Bizkaia (a real estate agency that includes Home Staging and small reforms to revalue the properties) has been responsible for this reform that has resulted in an elegant and timeless bathroom that now makes the most of its square meters.
The bathroom before
More than the age of its cladding (with mosaic-like tiles on the walls) and more or less contemporary sinks, this bathroom needed a makeover (tearing down and relocating fixtures) to make the most of it. As Carmen affirms, its distribution was a “without sense” and also explains that there were elements that were difficult to understand. Even more so when it was not the work of those who inhabited the apartment and that is “the shower had red, blue and white lights when turning on the water and on the glass door separating the bathroom and the toilet area they had glued a vinyl with rapper faces…”
At the entrance to the left was the toilet and then the shower that, as Carmen told us, seemed to have chromotherapy functions (very 2008). to the bottom and after overcoming the shower walls They contained a generous sized sink.
Despite the “narrowness” of the entrance, the location of another very deep sink was striking. As if it were doing the times of guest bathroom sink or similar.
The bathroom after
The big change is the new bathroom layout. Now the shower is at the bottom of it, in the space previously occupied by the sink. Where the toilet and shower used to be, there is now a large sink. It is a wooden cabinet with drawers that provides warmth and has a washbasin on the countertop on only one side, clearing the rest of the countertop.
Between the large sink and the shower the toilet has been placed, moving only a few centimeters from its initial location. Now it has a more logical location (without being greeted when you enter).
Beyond its new distribution the choice of materials brings a timeless style to this large bathroom. Large-format porcelain pieces have been chosen for the wall of the sink and toilet in beige-gray tones and for the shower, the same tones but in a smaller format gives dynamism to the whole.
On the wall opposite the washbasin, the one that does not have installations, a beautiful wallpaper from Il Mondo Home has been placed, with animal prints that follows the same color range as the rest of the bathroom and that makes it very special the design of this new bathroom.
