In many ways, MultiVersus isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel, the game is a brawler platformer heavily inspired by the Super Smash Bros. franchise. However, MultiVersus innovates in some surprising ways. It’s free-to-play, has a great upgrade system, and perhaps most important of all, Multi Versus it focuses on 2v2 multiplayer instead of 1v1.
Now, a newly discovered leak shows Player First’s dedication to 2v2, revealing that players will even be able to share their game progression. battle passes. Well, a dataminer shared information about the leak through his Twitter account, posting screenshots of a system designed to allow two players to Multi Versus Link your accounts.
The first image shared shows an in-game panel titled “Find a Battle Pass Companion.” It includes a way to look up a player’s username and is supposed to be the first step in sending an invite to another match to link accounts.
AisulMV’s second image provides a much clearer picture of what it would mean to link accounts in MultiVersus. This is a new panel that reads “Battle Pass Link Request” and mentions the ability to “conquer” the battle pass of Multi Versus faster, while sharing the rewards.
Three dots follow, the first one says linked players both contribute XP to the same battle pass. The second point says that if a player has a premium battle pass, players will share progress on it. The third says that XP and quest rewards are still given to both players.
What follows from the screenshots is that two players from Multi Versus they can share a battle pass, which doubles their battle pass XP gain rate. Both players’ XP rewards for completing quests will go to the same progression bar.
As players level up, they will both earn rewards. Also, although somewhat ambiguous, it is implied that only one player has to pay for the premium version of the battle pass.
The idea behind this feature seems to be that developer Player First further encourages two-player teamwork in MultiVersus. Not only can two players team up and play together, they are rewarded for playing together by progressing faster through the Battle Pass.
