Bambi is, since its premiere in a distant 1942, one of the classics of Disney that remains in the hearts of many generations. Directed by the huge team of David Hand, Bill Roberts, Norman Wright, Samuel Armstrong, Paul Satterfield and Graham Heid, the animated film tells the tragic life of a little deer from the loss of its mother to its adult life.
Despite the colors and charming characters that surround him, Bambi It is considered to this day one of the saddest films in the Disney repertoire, especially when it is taken into account that it is a film aimed at children, above other films that are also considered tragic such as Dumbo or Pinocchio.
Although in recent years it has become customary for Disney to make live-action adaptations of its animated classics, Bambi has not been one in which it shows particular interest. However, there are other creative minds, and a bit wild, who want to take it to the movies in a dark and adult version.
The producers of Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, the Winnie the Pooh slasher want to make a dark adaptation of Bambi
For months there has been a lot of talk about Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, which is expected to hit theaters in some countries next year, where the famous yellow bear is shown looking quite sinister becomes a slasher movie star. Now, it has been confirmed, via Dread Central, that the same producers will follow that path with Bambi, under the title Bambi: The Reckoningwhere the little deer will seek revenge on behalf of his mother.
Director Scott Jeffrey will be in charge of bringing the production to the vine. He’s already made some pretty sinister movies like The Bad Nun and The Curse of Humpty Dumpty.
“The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1923 story that we all know and love. Taking inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a ferocious killing machine that lurks in the wild. Get ready for a Bambi with rage! ”, Said the filmmaker.
