Sony Pictures has signed the award-winning Latin rapper bad bunny to star in a new spinoff from spider-man focused on the character The dead, a wrestling wrestler with powers who has appeared in Marvel comics. El Muerto will be the first Latino hero to get his own movie in any Marvel franchise.
With this film, Bad Bunny gets his third appearance in film or television after reaching the top of the music industry with several Grammy awards and platinum records.
As for El Muerto, the character has only appeared a dozen times as a powered-up wrestling fighter who saved Spider-Man from death. His father was killed by a mystical wrestling god named El Dorado, and he threatened El Muerto with the same fate if he didn’t don a mask and become a wrestling champion.
The hero’s powers have been passed down from generation to generation, and he has battled the webslinger on several occasions to prove his power to the world. It is precisely the mask mentioned before that gives him his powers.
The El Muerto movie will be released on January 12, 2024.
