Although the story of Return to the future is more than clear, and leaves little to the imagination after so many years, the truth is that not everything is told about the most beloved science fiction saga by the public.
33 years after the premiere of the last film, Back to the Future IIIha appeared a deleted scene that completely changes the final tone of the film. The reason why the scene was cut from the final cut has so much to do with the last installment, rather it is a consequence of the second. And if it had been maintained, the end of the trilogy would have been very different.
One of the criticisms at the time was that the character of Biff Tannen in Back to the Future II it was too dark compared to the general tone of the film. Many, in fact, have compared him to Trump. The truth is that a large part of the public did not like the tone of the character very much, although the film was hailed as one of the best in the trilogy.
A deleted scene that would have changed the ending of Back to the Future
For the third, its creators thought a lot in changing part of the character dynamic. In fact, in the original montage there is a deleted scene in which Mad Dog Tannen (Perro Rabioso Tannen in Spanish) kills Marshall Strickland by shooting the sheriff from behind him as he rides away:
This scene was removed because the creators of Back to the Future III were concerned that if Mad Dog killed the Marshall, viewers would want Marty to kill Tannen. And the end of the sequel it would have greatly disappointed the public at the time. Logically, it’s the complete opposite of the final montage, in which Marshall Strickland stops Mad Dog Tannen after the duel with Marty, leaving a happy ending for almost everyone.
Since the rest of the films in the trilogy of Return to the future do not feature major deaths other than natural causes, this twist would have been too dark. But the truth is that it is interesting to see how several decades later new content continues to appear.
If you want to see the entire Back to the Future trilogy again, it’s the perfect time because it’s Available on Amazon Prime Video and you can have a good binge. Without a doubt, one of the best trilogies in the history of modern cinema.
