NieR: Automata will have anime, as announced by Square Enix and Plainum Games during its fifth anniversary through its official website. In addition, ANIPLEX will be in charge of producing and distributing it globally, this is one of the largest animation distribution companies in the world.
This adaptation will not be an original and independent story as has been the case with other video games such as Final Fantasy VII with Advent Children, but it will take inspiration directly from the adventure narrated in the video game, where we meet androids 2B, 9S and A2 in their battle to recover the Earth from the hands of powerful invading machines. In the NieR: Automata anime, we will learn how humanity was driven from their home planet by mechanical beings from another unknown world. In a final effort to reclaim their home, the human resistance sends in a force of android soldiers to destroy the invaders and thus maintain their autonomy.
This is the beginning of the war between the alien machines and the group of androids that represent the last hope of the Earth.. This event will reveal great secrets and truths of this world. However, as of the date of this article, neither ANIPLEX nor the video game companies in charge have mentioned which animation studio will make the anime adaptation of NieR: Automata. This opens the possibility of speculation, because taking into account the popularity of this franchise, it could be a medium or high profile team.
What’s more, NieR: Automata anime could take a couple of creative licenses to better tell its story, Well, let’s remember that the video game was a sequel to a title that came out in 2010 that, in addition, is told through multiple endings and several replay sessions. Whatever the case, we will have to wait for more details about it.
Originally, NieR: Automata (ニーア オートマタ Nīa Ōtomata?) is an action role-playing video game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One. The video game shares the same universe as Nier, a series derived from the Drakengard saga. The story follows the battles of combat android 2B, her companion 9S, and the obsolete prototype A2, in a proxy war between machines created by otherworldly invaders and the remnants of humanity. Production began in 2014 with creator Yoko Taro, producer Yōsuke Saitō, and composer Keiichi Okabe.
