Kyle Roche, the lawyer at the center of the accusations made by the Cryptoleaks website about a secret deal between his firm and Ava Labs, responded Monday in a post on Medium. Like the CEO of Ava Labs, Emin Gun Sirer, Roche denied the existence of any secret agreement between the parties.
Roche stated that the recordings that were released on the Cryptoleaks website were made at the behest of ICP token creator Dominic Williams. Roche’s law firm, Roche Freedman, filed a class action lawsuit against Williams and his Dfinity Foundation last October. Roche said that the recordings were heavily edited and he denied the veracity of the statements he made on them. According to Roche:
“The statements in the video […] are false, and were obtained through deceptive means, including a deliberate scheme to intoxicate, and then take advantage of me, using deceptive questions.”
The published videos show Roche in two different scenarios. A series of clips was recorded in a restaurant, where Roche is seen with a glass of wine. The other set of clips appears to be shot in an office setting.
Sirer commented on the Cryptoleaks allegations on his little-used Medium blog on Monday as well. Sirer repeated his denial that Ava Labs has a secret agreement with Roche’s law firm to manipulate the US legal system to “harm” its competitors. Sier wrote:
“Roche is not part of our executive team, and we did not go to him for advice outside of the few small matters on which he represented us. […] He has only handled a few minor cases for us in his area of expertise.”
cryptoleaks, an anonymous website that claims to launch investigations based on whistleblower information, has not backed down from its claims. In addition to the Roche recordings, Cryptoleaks claimed that a complaint filed in a Florida circuit court against Roche, his partners and their law firm by a former partner provides evidence of the secret agreement.
Emin Gün Sirer, perhaps this legal filing will help refresh your memory

The complaint, posted on the Cryptoleaks website, alleged that: “In exchange for legal services, Ava Labs has agreed to pay Roche Freedman LLP a certain amount of tokens over a period of thirty-six months beginning September 30, 2019.”
