Heading to 2022, the human resources area plays a key role in understanding what elements are fundamental in understanding the market.
There are areas of opportunity to which we have to be attentive today, to discover what is worth in the face of talent and how to make the most of it.
An element that we cannot ignore today is the one that reveals to us what is right to identify what is worth when serving the market.
The human resources area is crucial in the industry, it defines the activities that will be crucial for talent to develop and for companies to synergize with human capital in advancing their businesses.
Inside this exclusive interview with savior kingsCHRO of Mondelez Mexicothe manager reminds us how important it has become to understand talent and find areas of opportunity to create synergy.
Merca2.0 – Internal talent, external talent, which one to invest in and why during 2022?
Salvador Reyes – At Mondelez Mexico we believe that the real key to obtaining results is to invest in both, one day we were all external talent, however, we have an important focus in our efforts and investment in creating a work culture that really promotes the development of talent within our company, and that this culture permeates even our allies, be they suppliers, business partners, etc.
We are convinced that those who really drive the growth and results of an organization are the collaborators and betting on a work environment that allows them to grow professionally is a proven investment, from within the company we have a culture of inclusive leadership in which we promote diversity of ideas and experiences. Day by day we work to create an organization where everyone feels included, listened to and welcome, because this is really the investment in talent that catalyzes creativity, innovation and skills development.
Merca2.0 – What do you consider to be the most important advance in human resources during 2021?
SR – The times we are living in have been very challenging and they open up enormous opportunities for us to transform. After the challenges that moving to remote or hybrid work schemes implied for many companies in 2020, I can say that one of the highlights of 2021 in terms of Human Resources was enabling the organization and our people leaders to achieve an even higher level of autonomy in talent management.
Working at home made us face a routine where personal and work life were mixed for many in the same space, so one of our priorities was to create a work environment that was adjusted to the needs, goals and well-being of our people, elevating technology in favor of the collaboration of and between teams, keeping us human and empathic with the needs of our collaborators.
We have evolved from a model that we call “Work-Life Blend” or “mixture of personal and work life”, to a Flexible Culture, which is based on “Trusting employees to obtain results by allowing the customization of how and where we work, without a one-size-fits-all approach.”
With this commitment, we are developing and strengthening our colleagues with skills that allow them to adopt this flexible culture, launching programs such as our internal campaign “Mondelēz Is With You”, focused on providing them with the work and personal tools they need to achieve this balance; and our “Employee Assistance Program” that provides permanent professional psychological guidance.
Faced with a difficult economic start, inflation, negative indicators, a contingency that persists, what will be crucial in talent management to continue overcoming these challenges?
We like to see challenges as great opportunities, to continue learning and make the best decisions that have a positive impact on our people. With the lessons learned in recent years and from this year’s outlook,
We will continue to promote diversity and inclusion in all its forms, to generate more open environments, as we know that having a diverse and connected community strengthens us. It is the differences of ideas that enrich us and we constantly strive to create an organization where everyone feels heard and included.
