Throughout all these years it has been possible to see how, in its origins, Platinum Games made a name for itself as one of the great independent studios within the video game industry with great games from the likes of Vanquish, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, NieR Automata, among others.
However, despite the fact that Platinums Games’ resume is enviable, the truth is that the studio has spent a few years in which it does not seem to hit the target with some of its titles, except for exceptions such as Astral Chain, being that video games like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Fox Zero did not meet expectations. And given this, it remains to be seen what will happen with Babylon’s Fall, the new Square Enix title that will be released in March of this year.
If we add to this a controversial Kickstarters campaign with the ports of The Wonderful 101, we have as a result a study that needs to give series changes, which seem to have already come in the form of change at the top of their organizational pyramid.
Kenichi Sato resigns as CEO and president of Platinum Games
In this way, it has recently been known that Kenichi Sato, who until now was the president and CEO of Platinum Games, He resigned from his post in December 2021 after six years occupying the aforementioned positions in the company.
Thus, the position is taken by Atsushi Inaba, who was the vice president of Platinum before the resignation. In this way, it has also been confirmed that Sato will remain as an advisor to the study, although it is unknown how long he will hold that position.
For the rest, it will be necessary to see what the future of the study is in the industry, since, accustomed to receiving commissions from large companies, in recent years interest has been expressed in create your own projects and self-publish them, thus gaining a certain independence in the developments.
For the rest, it must be remembered that in addition to Babylon’s Fall, 2022 is planned as a year in which Bayonetta 3 could finally reach stores, this being a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
