On April 1, Asus introduced the ROG Ally, a portable console that targets the Steam Deck, the most popular device in the industry. However, the Taiwanese manufacturer was quite secretive regarding the specifications. Some, like the resolution and refresh rate of the screen, were revealed, but everything else remained a secret, until now…

As is often the case with any technological product that is about to go into production, the leaks have not been long in appearing. Some curious people have noticed that the Asus ROG Ally has already left its mark on Geekbenchexposing each and every one of its specifications (via VideoCardz). Be careful, because there are surprises.

First of all, it is important to mention that, apparently, there are two different models of the Asus ROG Ally that vary in power. However, we do not know if both devices will go on sale, or the company has not yet decided on one.

The first variant of the Asus ROG Ally, and the most powerful of all, integrates a Custom AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU (CPU+GPU) and based on architectures Zen4 and RDNA 3. It also has 8 cores, 16 threads and a clock frequency that reaches 5.1 GHz. These numbers are enough to display a graphic section up to expectations.

The other version is committed to a similar chip, the AMD Ryzen Z1. The difference is that you only have 6 cores / 12 threads and its maximum clock frequency is 4.939GHz.

An interesting point is that the AMD Ryzen Z1 will not only give life to the Asus ROG Ally, but also a whole wave of portable video game consoles that are on the way.

In both models, yes, the memory is exactly the same. It has 16GB DDR5while your storage is driven by one drive 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. It seems that the Asus ROG Ally, in contrast to the Steam Deck, does not intend to explore lower-capacity versions. And for those who require more space, there will be a MicroSD card expansion slot.

Regarding the screen, there are no variations with the data provided in the presentation. The Asus ROG Ally incorporates a panel with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This component, without a doubt, could be the most important purchase factor. Especially for those players who enjoy competitive multiplayer titles.

Now, there is a fact that Asus has managed to keep locked: the price. The features outlined above make us think that the Asus ROG Ally will be significantly more expensive than the Steam Deck, and we shouldn’t be surprised if this is the case.

However, Asus has already warned that the cost of the ROG Ally will be quite competitive. But… in relation to what? To the Steam Deck? To its powerful hardware? These are questions that will be resolved in the coming months. while the console no release date yetthe Taiwanese company intends to put it in stores throughout this year.
