Arcane has become on its own merits not only one of the best video game adaptations to another medium in history, but also one of the most outstanding animated series in recent years. Despite this, we have now learned an interesting story produced before the premiere of the series based on the universe of League of Legends. And it is that the Arcane creators have revealed that Netflix focus groups did not like the series too much. This has been made known by the creatives Alex Yee and Christian Linke in a talk on the Ted Price podcast of Insomniac Games and that you can see in full in the video that you will find below.
“I remember talking to the Netflix guys, you know, when you do your focus groups. We had this so weird on the one hand. The normal thing in these focus groups is that the results you obtain are pretty accurate regarding what you can expect from the real-world reaction. This time we were a bit disconnected. According to the results of the focus groups we should have obtained a decent answer, pretty good, by the audience. The focus groups said that the animation was not too impressivethat it was not bad, that they had already seen it many times before and that the characters and the plot lines were very confusing”, Yee and Linke have pointed out in this interview.
This is how the first notes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are being, now available on Netflix
The reality is that Arcane: League of Legends has become the first series in history to win an Emmy in the category of Best Animated Series, in addition to many other awards. The reaction of the public was also unanimously very positive, so we can conclude that the focus groups chosen by Netflix for this particular series were not the most successful. Arcane already confirmed that she will have a second season which will not arrive, at least, until 2023.
