A few days ago, a leaker known for accurately revealing data about the Dynamic Island of the iPhone 14 Pro, before it was announced, began to leak information related to the new button panel that will reach the iPhone 15 Pro. The leaker, through macrumours, stated that it will have a dedicated processor, and that the mute switch will be modified by an action key similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. Now, it states that the solid-state buttons, which replaced the traditional ones we see on the other models, will include a function to customize the sensitivity; good news for those who use sleeves or gloves.
The function, specifically, will allow the user adjust the sensitivity when pressing the buttons, which will have a mechanism similar to the one that Apple includes in the home button of the iPhone SE. This is a useful feature if the iPhone 15 Pro is wearing a case or if the person holding the phone is wearing gloves. Well, although the casings will be adapted to the new keypad, the user would have to make one more press, let’s say, forced to be able to perform the action of, for example, turning on the equipment or lowering the volume.
“Those capacitive buttons will work great with gloves and cases if designed correctly, since there is a sensitivity switch.”
It is not clear if Apple will allow you to precisely customize the sensitivity of the new keypad. Or if, instead, the company will show different options to activate if, for example, the iPhone has a cover or the user uses gloves. In any case, and taking into account the rest of the options related to the iPhone 15 Pro keypad that Apple could include in the system, it is likely that in the device settings we will see a specific section for the aforementioned keys.
The iPhone 15 Pro will say goodbye to the mute switch
Apple, according to previous information revealed by the aforementioned leaker, would also replace the mute switch with an action key. That is to say, by a button similar to the one included in the Apple Watch Ultra. With this, the user could select a specific action that would be activated by making one or more clicks. For example, it would be possible to press once to activate the flashlight, a concentration mode or open an application, or twice to silence the iPhone 15 Pro, take a screenshot, etc.
The iPhone 15 Pro will also arrive with a low-energy microprocessor. This will be used to make the solid state keys responsive even when the iPhone 15 Pro is off or without battery.
