From Affinity they have wanted to analyze the graphical performance of the new MacBook Pro.
A few days ago we had the opportunity to discover a series of Benchmark tests on the performance of the new M1 Pro and M1 Max processors of the 2021 MacBook Pro line. How could it be otherwise, the performance is brutal. But what about the graphic aspect?
From the application developers team Affinity Photo, as they tell us in 9to5mac, have carried out an intensive analysis on the graphics performance of the processors of the MacBook Pro models that Apple recently introduced.
The results have been surprising, and as this review indicates, the M1 Max chips are superior to such beastly graphics cards as the Radeon Pro W6900X “in some tasks.”
The tests were carried out by Andy Somerfield, lead developer of the team that launched the popular Affinity photo editing app.
The # M1Max is the fastest GPU we have ever measured in the @affinitybyserif Photo benchmark. It outperforms the W6900X – a $ 6000, 300W desktop part – because it has immense compute performance, immense on-chip bandwidth and immediate transfer of data on and off the GPU (UMA). pic.twitter.com/iPg3L56y2u

Andy Somerfield explained that the performance of Apple chips is superior to a Radeon Pro W6900 card that costs more than 6,000 euros. In their analysis, the developer indicated that the Affinity Photo application performed best with a GPU that has high computing performance and fast data transfer with the GPU. The fastest so far had been the AMD Radeon Pro graphics card.
The Radeon Pro W6900X offers a total of 32GB of memory with 512GB / s of bandwidth, while Apple’s M1 Max chip has 32 cores and 400GB / s of unified memory bandwidth. Despite being technically inferior, the processor outperforms the Radeon Pro in performing certain tasks. What do you think about this?
