First they told us that riding a motorcycle with an iPhone could ruin the cameras of their mobile phone, and now in the big presentation of the Apple Event they show us a kid using his iPhone while riding a motorcycle.
As you well know, yesterday Apple had its big event, the Apple Event, where they showed us the new iPhone 13, the new Watch Series 7 watch and their new iPad Mini 2021.
And, between presentation and presentation, the company was giving us promotional videos of its products. So far everything normal, if it weren’t for one in particular, one that gave us mixed messages with what Apple told us just a few days ago.
Last Saturday the 11th, Apple updated its website to warn us that exposing an iPhone to a high-powered or high-volume motorcycle engine could damage the phone.
Apparently, the vibrations of these motors can annoy the cameras of the iPhones with optical image stabilization (OIS) or with closed-loop autofocus (AF), which have been on every iPhone since the iPhone 6 Plus.
So why was Apple showing us its brand new iPhone 13 mounted on the handlebar of a motorcycle?
The message from Apple specifically explained that: “High-power or high-volume motorcycle engines generate intense, high-amplitude vibrations, which are transmitted through the chassis and handlebars. “
Well here you go a video of several minutes where we see in the foreground the iPhone 13 mounted on the handlebar of a motorcycle.
To be fair, remember that Apple does say what to wear iPhone in vehicles with small-volume or electric motors, such as mopeds and scooters, may cause lower amplitude vibrations compared.
But it is also true that They specify that if you do, you must wear a support with vibration damping to reduce the risk from damaging the iPhone and its OIS and AF systems.
The vehicle that appears in the video can be seen without any mistake that it is a scooter, but, as Apple says, that can also cause damage. Also, the media used in the video seems pretty standard. Come on, no stabilizer or shock absorber.
Plus Apple warns moped and scooter drivers that regular use of mounted iPhones can end up damaging just the same the cameras of the iPhones. And what we see in the video is a messenger who works on a motorcycle, so we understand that she will spend at least 6 to 8 hours riding.
So, Apple, what was your recommendation? Let’s hope they give an official answer on this matter, because right now the message is totally contradictory.
