The Portuguese António Félix Da Costa has conquered the pole in the ePrix of Marrakech and will start in first position on the grid at the Moroccan circuit. The DS Techetaah driver posted a time of 1:17.070 in the Grand Final to beat Edo Mortara by 81 thousandths. Beyond the result qualifying has left a really complex scenario for Stoffel Vandoornesince the World Cup leader has had problems in his qualifying group and will start from the last starting row in Morocco.
The classification of Group A started with an atypical resultnot so much because of the development of the session itself as because of the final positions. Leader Stoffel Vandoorne was last after suffering some problems on his last thrown lap. Nor did André Lotterer have his day in Marrakech, which opened the doors to the quarterfinals for less ‘usual’ drivers. Edo Mortara was done with the best time (1:18.386) and led the pass to the playoffs. Nick Cassidy, Jake Dennis and Oliver Askew, these last two Andretti drivers, also made it to the quarterfinals.
in group B Formula E qualifying there was less room for surprises and the ‘roosters’ of the championship did not fail. António Félix Da Costa was already showing signs of his pace after setting a time of 1:18.150. Less than a tenth of the Portuguese finished his partner Jean-Eric Vergne. The last two tickets for the round of 16 fell into the hands of Pascal Wehrlein and Mitch Evansleaving Nyck de Vries out of the knockout stage by less than a tenth.
In the first crossover of quarters, Edo Mortara clearly surpassed Mitch Evans. Pascal Wehrlein did the same with Nick Cassidywhile at the bottom of the frame the DS Techeetah drivers imposed their law against the Andretti drivers. Jean-Eric Vergne beat Jake Denins, while António Félix Da Costa edged out Oliver Askew. This left some nice semi-finals with a duel between Mortara and Wehrlein and a ‘civil war’ between the two DS Techeetah pilots. Edo Mortara and António Félix Da Costa managed to access the final.
The grand finale was dyed golden, every time António Félix Da Costa achieved a time of 1:17.070 that Edo Mortara could not replicate for 81 thousandths. The Portuguese will start at the head of the peloton in a race in which Edo Mortara will start second, followed by Jean-Eric Vergne and Pascal Wehrlein, since the Frenchman’s time was better than that of the Porsche driver. For the fastest laps made in the quarters, Jake Dennis will start fifth ahead of Mitch Evans, Oliver Askew and Nick Cassidy.
