Avalanche Andretti has confirmed a collaboration agreement with Porsche Motorsport for the use of the German firm’s powertrain in Formula E. In this way, Andretti will become Porsche’s ‘customer-team’ in the ‘Gen3’ era of the electric competition, thanks to this new long-term bond. In addition to using the base of the Stuttgart firm’s single-seater since ‘Season Nine’, the team will also have other support services from Porsche after competing in recent years as a partner and customer of BMW.
The agreement between Andretti and Porsche unites both parties for the first time since 2008, the year in which John Andretti competed behind the wheel of the Vision Racing team’s Porsche-powered Crawford DP08. Nevertheless, the link between the Andretti family team and the German manufacturer has had many other episodes over the years, episodes that have been synonymous with success on different occasions. Both parties want these successes to now carry over to Formula E.

Our history with Porsche as two storied racing teams means that this collaboration was a natural fit. We are looking forward to this new chapter starting in 2023».
Roger GriffithsAndretti’s boss in Formula E, added: “The ‘Season Nine’ will be very important for our team. Making a strong and logical choice of our powertrain supplier was vital to start this new chapter. I believe that with Porsche we have found the best possible partner. We can’t wait to start the ‘Gen3’ era by competing at a high level. Until then we will continue to focus on this season, racing with the BMW powertrain, our team’s partner until the end of this year. We will try to achieve new successes until then.
For its part, Thomas Laudenbach As Vice President of Porsche Motorsport, he concluded: “It is important for us to support a ‘customer-team’ that demonstrates the same passion and professionalism that we have in Formula E.. Avalanche Andretti has competed in the series since its inaugural season in 2014. It is a huge vote of confidence that one of the most experienced teams has chosen to work alongside Porsche starting with the ‘Season Nine’. Porsche and Andretti are united by a long tradition and we are delighted that this relationship now continues in Formula E.”
