André Lotterer and Pascal Wehrlein will continue to defend Porsche’s interests at the ‘Season Eight’ of Formula E. In a commitment to continuity, the TAG Heuer Porsche team has chosen to renew the contracts of its drivers and will repeat the line-up in the 2021-22 season of the electric series, even if the results have been far from expected. With this decision, the Stuttgart firm becomes the second structure with its lineup of drivers for the next season already closed, since Jaguar has also managed to retain under its umbrella its current duo of drivers formed by Mitch Evans and Sam Bird.
André Lotterer competes in Formula E since the 2019-20 seasonFirst with the DS Techeetah team and then with Porsche. In his career in the electric series, the 39-year-old has achieved a pole position and three podiums in the Porsche 99X Electric. A background that Lotterer is willing to improve: «Despite the successes we have experienced as a team, there is still a long way to go to reach our goals. For this reason, It gives me special satisfaction that Porsche gives me the opportunity to continue in this project and help in the development of the team beyond this season.
For its part, Pascal Wehrlein is completing his first Formula E season with the TAG Heuer Porsche team, although he has already accumulated three campaigns in the electric series at 26 years of age. After two years with Mahindra, the German has made a stop at Porsche to get on the podium at the Rome ePrix in April. In addition, it has a pole position: «As a new member of the team, I feel very comfortable and well received since my arrival.. We achieved a lot in our first championship together and we are firmly positioned in Formula E. I am very happy to be part of this great team in the future».
