history books, Wikipedia, forums and other platforms allow us to know the past, what happened before our era and understand the reason for many things. The time of the dinosaurs, also called Mesozoic, is one of the most studied by man, one that can be better known thanks to an impressive version of Google Earth.
This program is called Ancient Earth, an interactive map that was created by paleontologist Ian Webster. As the website explains Xataka in a report, represents a journey of millions of years that allows us to verify the evolution of our planet and learn curious facts from the original continent of Pangea.
This prehistoric Google Earth works on both computers and smartphones, and although there are already platforms such as Google Maps and its Street View with which you can travel through time, it has limits in certain areas and times are close to today.
How does Ancient Earth work?
The upper part of the map has a drop-down menu in which you can select the time to which we want to move, even if it is a return to the past of about 750 million yearswhich allows us to evaluate the evolution of the Earth.
The most interesting thing about this tool is that it offers an unprecedented look at the Mesozoic era, 66 million years ago, when the dinosaurs became extinct.
At the bottom, there are interesting descriptions about the state of the Earth at the selected time, such as data on temperatures, the most common species, among others.
The only detail is that when searching for cities in different periods, the investigation becomes complicated because the creators of the platform could not gather all the data on the old names of the towns. Despite this, it is still a very complete tool.
Days ago, we also shared the creation of a version of Google Maps located in the year 20 BC, which reveals what the roads of the Roman Empire were like. Another way to travel in time.
