Being a teenager is never easy, especially when you live in a town where everyone knows you, and expects something from you. In these situations, many adolescents feel lost in life, not even knowing who they really are. And this is where they have to take a path to be able to discover themselves, create their own identity, and leave behind the expectations that others might have about themselves.
The Artful Escape presents this problem in a phenomenal way, which is much more common in the real world than many of us think. The way in which our protagonist, Francis Vendetti, overcomes all these obstacles in his life is very original, mixing fantasy, like science fiction and, as a cornerstone, music. But we will have time to reel off the whole title later, in the The Artful Escape review.
A musical journey through the cosmos
The story that Beethoven & Dinosaur presents to us is one of discovery and self-improvement, starring the young Francis Vendetti, nephew of the famous artist Johnson Vendetti, who is praised by all the people of Calypso, and they hope that Francis will follow the witness left by his uncle.
The main dilemma that begins the plot of the title is the absence of his own identity that Francis feels, until, suddenly, we begin to see how the story becomes a musical science fiction adventure, full of exotic alien races, planets full of life and levels that, instead of an ordinary walk, turn into spectacular concerts, packed with lights, strange beings and, above all, excellent music.
Francis’s journey takes us through a cosmos very different from that seen in other works of science fiction. While many other works show it as a void consumed by the blackness of space, The Artful Escape reverses that idea and brings life to the cosmos, filling it with vivid colors, absorbing music and backgrounds that make you feel small in the vastness of space.
Music, cornerstone of history
The engine that moves both the plot and Francis is, without a doubt, the music. All the elements, characters, even the worlds that we visit during our trip, are connected by music, which we make sound thanks to the innate talent of our protagonist with the electric guitar.
What’s more, the little gameplay that the title presents is designed to be enjoyable to the maximum, leaving aside complications or errors do not matter the least or hinder the user experience (like, for example, the impossibility of dying). The concerts that we will give throughout always follow the same pattern: we will always see the same marks of the buttons, both in structures and in the characters, so that we can know which button to play, and in what order, to follow the melody and so on, complete the little puzzle.
An unforgettable artistic and sound section
Something in which The title of Beethoven & Dinosaur stands out above all else in both its artistic and sound sections, careful to the smallest detail. Environmental themes as we explore the vastness of the cosmos accompany us perfectly, since they immerse us in a fantastic way in the exotic worlds we visit.
The Artful Escape uses a mixture of environment and characters in 2D and 3D, achieving an artistic section of the most original. In addition, many times you do not know how to distinguish what is done in 3D or not, something that gives a much rounder packaging to the experience, and that makes you recognize the title at a minimum.
The Artful Escape is a game that exudes charisma from all sides
The work of the Beethoven & Dinosaur studio surprises in all its sections, leaving us with a feeling of having lived a truly important story. The characters are branded with fire, thanks to the fact that they are written (and with excellent voice acting) in a brilliant way. What’s more, There is a characteristic that makes this title very special: it has a soul of its own, something very difficult to find today.
The Artful Escape, although it is a very short game with repetitive gameplay and that does not stand out for its complexity, It has an original plot that delves into issues that affect us all at some point in our lives, with a masterfully well recreated science fiction setting and using music as the key piece of the title.
