It was one of the biggest attractions of those presented this Sunday in the country, with the aim of commemorating Heritage Day, the expected fictitious trial that the judges of the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso led against Darth Vader, the iconic villain of the Star Wars saga, who in “an unexpected twist” in court managed to overturn his sentence of being “frozen in perpetuity” for his “crimes against the galaxy.”
The most significant charge, and which was witnessed by a high number of visitors who gathered in the second room of the Buenos Aires Court -in total, and according to data provided by the Judiciary itself, there were more than 10,000 attendees at the 16 courts in the country and the Palace of Courts of Justice – was that of having cut off the hand of his son, Luke Skywalker, a crime of which Anakin Skywalker was finally acquitted thanks to the timely and effective representation of his lawyers.
The trial of Darth Vader in Chile
As could be seen in the trial, the full court accepted the appeal presented by Darth Vader’s defense, who argued that the previous sentence against his client focused on the mutilation suffered by the victim and not on the previous actions of the Mr. Vader.
“In its decision, the appellate court determined that the appropriate sentence for the defendant would be to remain frozen for 30 years in carbonite and established a prohibition on approaching Luke Skywalker to a minimum distance of three planets during the same period.” pointed out the opinion, which took into account the arguments of the defense to issue this new substitute ruling against Darth Vader, which also considered another series of precautionary sentences in relation to future and potential crimes once he can be released.
“Darth Vader was sentenced to absolute and perpetual incapacitation for the dark use of force” and was “perpetually prohibited from using the lightsaber”, iconic weapon of the Jedi and Sith.
During the hearing, Darth Vader’s defense attorney emphasized his client’s pursuit of justice, emphasizing that he was not asking for mercy or forgiveness, but simply that his rights be respected.
“Even if only in part, he is a human being with rights”, declared the defender, noting that, despite being an almost mechanical character, Darth Vader was also a man and a father.
The trial was attended by important witnesses, including Obi Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Master Yoda, who gave their testimony in court, and who also participated in other events prepared by the Valparaíso Court of Appeals to commemorate Heritage Day, which seeks to highlight the cultural and cinematographic importance of the saga.
