Under the competition between the sea and the rock of a cliff, it generates a sensual form that invites to enter. Even inside there is a covered swimming pool that develops the spaces, forcing the visitor to focus on the horizon, on the sea. A gesture, a fold, the simplicity of the shape and comfort are the predominant characteristics. It is about achieving a contrast that in turn announces the arrival of a new life.
Future and nature go hand in hand: we are talking about the “Horizontal V House”. A marvel of modern architecture.
Behind this preciousness is the Cuban architect Jorge Luis Veliz Quintana, who in recent years has focused on architecture designed for the future, with a very close relationship with nature and integration in the same way as with spaces. Veliz and his team are dedicated to the field of architectural design and 3D visualization. For this they work professionally with software of architecture and simulation that allow them to design these amazing singularities.
“Since I was 10 years old, without even knowing what architecture was, my wooden house was demolished and with all that rubble I built a three-story tree house in the patio of my house, from then on I began to discover myself as architect without knowing it,” he said in an interview.
Each environment that he designs has characteristics that foster a very peculiar architecture, taking into account the context, the climate and the culture. Economic aspects also influence when building, so it is always a challenge to design with materials and construction techniques that are essential.
For Veliz, “the idea is to create architecture within the landscape and a landscape within architecture. As an artist I need to express states of mind, they force me to be in total and constant creation.”
On this occasion, the architect has tried to recreate a harmonic concept that distinguishes a safe interior surrounded by fragments and pieces of outer space such as the ocean, which brings us closer to our natural environment. I show a cold and desolate external space, separating the floor from the house as one of the strategies to keep us safe.
It is not at all a coherent concept in the practice of being inhabited; It is just a representation of my interpretation regarding what happened in recent times of the pandemic. The “Horizontal V House” apparently protects but can be very fragile, inside it is the safest place and we wrap our best memories of abroad.
