Sometimes it is very important to maintain the fourth wall, to maintain our illusion that a fictional job is fictional. However, there are also people who simply cannot live this way. One of these is Neil deGrasse Tyson, the famous stunted man, who has pointed out that the iconic bat signal it’s practical.
Through his official Twitter account, Tyson, also recognized for being a spoiler of popular culture, pointed out that the Gotham City Police Station should use a better way to contact Batman, and even pointed out that a beeper or an emoji message would be more effective. This is what he commented on it:
“It just occurred to me: the famous Bat-Signal that invokes Batman’s crime-fighting skills only works on cloudy nights, and never during the day. Sounds to me like a bat emoji sent to Bruce Wayne’s smartphone or even an old-fashioned beeper would make this better.”

Of course, at the end of the day we are talking about one of the most iconic elements of popular culture. Whether or not it’s practical is out of the question, and swapping it out for a beeper wouldn’t have the same weight. On related topics, it seems that Batman 2 is in danger. Similarly, fans go crazy with the return of Ben Affleck to this role.
