There have been some pretty impressive illustrated music videos in the history of music. We have TheTrialby the English band Pink Floyd, who gave us surreal images back in the 80s. Of course, these videos had a lot of work behind them, but, What if they had the power of artificial intelligence on their side?
That’s what the YouTube channel has been doing SolarProphet, which has been responsible for uploading videos with songs whose images have been generated by Midjourney’s AI. In one of the last examples of it, shows us the song Mr Blue Skyfrom the legendary band Electric Light Orchestra. Thanks to artificial intelligence, it has generated multiple illustrations to bring song lyrics to life, and it’s a very interesting idea.
AIs capable of drawing are becoming increasingly popular. They are no longer only known by a sector of those who are passionate about technology. Now, they are in the public domain, and anyone can use tools like Midjourney or DALL-E mini. Others, like DALL-E 2, are only available to certain chosen ones in the world.
The video has been uploaded under the name of “Mr Blue Sky – But each letter is an image generated by AIThus, SolarProphet already puts us in context about what we will see next. In each of the photos the style of this artificial intelligence is clearly recognizablewhich has managed to perfect the mixtures of colors, lights and shadows.
Artificial intelligence and the future of animation
Midjourney’s AI has managed to give a pretty good result to the creator of the idea. After all, the images clearly reflect what the lyrics of the song want to convey. Best of all, thanks to Midjourney’s signature use of color, light and shadow, the result is cohesive enough to tell a story.
Of course, do not expect anything too advanced either. There will be no animations of any kind, at least for now. In fact, it is impressive the results that can be achieved with these tools, given how recent its integration into the market is. Because of this, it is only to be hoped that with the future we will see an even greater advance in its capabilities.
Like everything, artificial intelligence is a double-edged sword. Its usefulness will depend on the intentions of the companies. What will happen when companies decide they don’t need artists to complete projects? Yes, it is a thought that may seem radical, but we already know that certain companies would take the path that offers them the most benefits in the least amount of time.
