The middle dead line has announced that Storm Reid, known for shows like Euphoria and A Wrinkle in Time, will be in charge of interpreting the character of Riley in the series of The Last of Us that the streaming platform HBO Max is preparing with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as the mythical Joel and Ellie. The series, which will respect the Naughty Dog game by introducing changes, is being run by Craig Mazin, director of Chernobyl, and Neil Druckmann, director of the original game.
The Last of Us series will arrive on HBO Max this year and will show the start of the pandemic caused by a strain of a fungus that infects humans to turn them into cannibalistic creatures. Joel escapes with his daughter and brother from his home to avoid infection but his plans are twisted and Joel’s life changes forever. Some time later it will be when he meets Ellie and they start a long adventure that in this series that “will not follow the exact path of video games“, affirmed a co-creator of the project.
Storm Reid will take on the role of Riley, Ellie’s best friend we met in The Last of Us expansion. United before Ellie met Joel, after a time apart, Riley returns with a surprising revelation that will cause them to escape from boarding school, leading to a series of events that will change both their lives forever. The girl is a tough and brash young woman, two years older than Ellie but just as used to not following the rules. He has never been able to bear the idea of living his entire life in the quarantine zone, a feeling that they have always shared and now we know that it will be shown in the series. Will it be through flashbacks?
