The Mexican President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, will resume its activities before the weekendaffirmed this Wednesday the Secretary of the Interior, Adam Augusto Lopezalthough the president has three days without issuing a message after being infected with covid-19.
“Everything seems to indicate that before the weekend he will be resuming his activities as normal, he continues in isolation, but already recovering from his condition,”assured the official, who replaces the president in the daily press conferences of the Government.
His statements occur while Concern grows in Mexico for the health of López Obrador, who has not published photos or videos after revealing his covid-19 infection last Sunday.
The 69-year-old president had already contracted covid-19 twice, the first in January 2021 and the second in January 2022, and on both occasions he published images from isolation.
In addition, the Mexican ruler suffers from hypertension, in January 2022 he had a catheterization, a heart scan, and in December 2013 he suffered an acute myocardial infarction, for which he then had coronary surgery.
But the Secretary of the Interior asserted that “the President of the Republic continues to recover, and every day there are fewer symptoms, the symptoms, associated in these cases with covid-19.”
The expectation that the president would reappear this Wednesday he grew because 20 governors were summoned to meet him at the National Palace.
Secretary López, who has denied rumors of a heart attack, clarified that the president will not be present and that “It is not foreseen, but it could happen” a video message from the ruler.
On the other hand, the Government postponed this Tuesday the trade summit of latin american leaders against inflation scheduled for May 6 in Cancun, “a decision” that “is given after the positive diagnosis of covid-19 of the President of the Republic was made known,” according to the Foreign Ministry.
In contrast, the Secretary of the Interior attributed the fact to the fact that “it was impossible to reconcile the agendas of the presidents and that a reconsideration will be made so that, more or less, in about 30 days, it can be carried out.”
No, nothing to do (with the contagion of López Obrador). We believe, and this is what the doctors maintain, that the president will be once again resuming his normal activities.”
