During his presentation “Current situation and economic perspectives of Mexico, Dïaz de León said that it is key to develop agile, timely and low-cost means of payment. He stressed the importance of Mexico having means of payment such as CoDi, since before the pandemic .
“We believe that it has been very useful and has been a significant growth in payments of less than 8,000 pesos; in the last two years and, markedly by Covid, with growth of 40%, it reflects the possibility of making these transfers immediately , agile, with very low costs, “he added.
Díaz de León stressed that Banxico is committed to “identifying and incorporating new technologies” to have the most agile means of payments and that these contribute to a harmonious ecosystem in favor of the consumer.
The governor, who concludes his term at the head of the central bank next December, said that one of the lessons learned that it has been an honor to work for the central bank, since his arrival in 1991.
“Having faced adversity such as COVID has involved us to think about elements outside the conventional and has left us a very deep learning,” he said.
