Considering how global warming is affecting our planet, British company Ken Bromley Art Supplies and content marketing agency Lacuna 5 decided to use art to raise awareness of the climate emergency and inspire the general public to protect the planet. To do this, they used AI to show how iconic artists from history could represent the climate crisis if they lived today.
“Featuring Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol and many more, we hope these AI-powered paintings inspire you to protect our planet.”

-How did you come up with the idea to create the series Paintings on the Climate Crisis by Famous Artists using AI?
The idea arose because we wanted to do something that would show the effects of climate change through art. Mixing iconic artists from history with futuristic technology like AI seemed like the perfect way to highlight such a pressing current issue.
What is the role of Artificial Intelligence in creating these images?
–We asked the AI to create these paintings by inputting a series of phrases related to climate change along with the name of the artist, such as “Roy Lichtenstein coral reefs”. We had no input other than this, as we wanted the artwork to be created exclusively by the AI.
What is the purpose of creating and disseminating these images?
–Our goal is to raise awareness about climate change and inspire people to do more to protect the planet. By creating these works of art we hope that the beautiful yet haunting images created by AI will remind people of how beautiful our planet is and how it is being affected by climate change.
How do you think art can help fight climate change?
–Art tells a story, and stories are what can help impact people to make changes in their lives, and pressure governments and organizations to do more to protect the planet.
