The recording of a Zoom in which it was demanded to respect the inclusive language divided the internet and personalities such as Chumel Torres spoke about it, however, it seems that the influencer retracted his words.
The video of no more than 15 seconds made public opinion put the role of inclusive language on the table again, however, many decided that it was a good time to make fun of those who decide to use this language or pronouns.
The case
A video of a class was circulated online by Zoom in which a person who identifies as non-binary exclaims furiously: “I am not your partner, I am your partner “. Immediately, the young man offered him an apology and addressed him as “companion.”
However, the video started a debate about the reasons why it was recorded, broadcast, the annoyance of the person, and other theories about language, so the influencer Chumel Torres did not hesitate to express his opinion.
“Calm down mije. We are calm, “Torres wrote from his Twitter account with more than 3 million followers, sharing the video.
The act did not go unnoticed, because although there were those who made fun of the content, there were also those who criticized it for promoting bullying towards non-binary people from a channel with a massive reach.
Chumel Torres headquarters in the face of criticism
Users did not stop showing their dissatisfaction with the influencer’s publication, repeating in more than one comment that what Chumel Torres said was not funny and only fostered hatred.
“Imagine being a man in your early 40s and fueling bullying towards a non-binary person who is not even half your age,” wrote one user. “If the first thing you think when you see that we are harassed for who we are and we raise our voice is that we are exaggerating, as Chumel does, you are normalizing bullying,” said someone else.
Imagine being a man in your late 40s and fueling bullying towards a non-binary person who is not even half your age.

Faced with such a situation, the youtuber also decided that deleting the tweet would be the best decision and publishing another in which he responded to those who attacked him and demanded that they cancel it.
“Whenever I see that they want to cancel me for a tweet, I think of a few years ago when the liberals wanted to cancel RuPaul. RuPAUL! Those dogs don’t know about loyalties, they just want blood, ”the influencer’s tweet reads.
Siempre que veo que me quieren cancelar por algún tuit, pienso en hace unos años cuando los progres quisieron cancelar a RuPaul.
¡RuPAUL!
Esos perros no saben de lealtades, solo quieren sangre.

Although the intention of the influencer was to divert attention to another issue in relation to the LGBTQ + community, the truth is that the act made it clear that the influencer cannot not be as “progressive” as he has repeatedly mentioned.
It is important to say that the so-called minorities are now the majorities and marketing seems to understand this at least in theory. Those consumer groups that for years seemed to be far from social and commercial priorities have now raised their voices and positioned themselves as one of the target segments of many brands.
In this situation, we see a personality that demands inclusion, but that in practice does not carry the ideology and generates conflicting perceptions: among those who support decisions such as the person who demands that they refer to her as elle, those who judge her and those who they don’t understand why this creates a problem.
The challenge is on the table and must be addressed by marketing not only in this area, but in all others where the consumer develops, in order to keep the audience.
