The main Mexican airline detailed in a statement that there will be a daily flight to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, a destination that will also continue to be present in its offer at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).
This flight will allow our customers to travel from Mexico City and the eight national destinations that Aeroméxico operates in AIFA (Acapulco, Cancún, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mérida, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta and Veracruz) to the United States of America, increasing the connectivity between the two countries.

This first route from AIFA and bound for the United States obtained all the necessary authorizations both in Mexico and in its neighboring country, after the FAA downgraded Mexico’s aviation category to 2 in May 2020.
After a regulatory assessment and current conditions, the US and Mexican authorities approved this route considering that the AIFA also serves the metropolitan area of the Valley of Mexico.
the airline clarified.
It will also be the ninth destination that Aeroméxico offers since AIFA.
In addition, this airline stated that it is also working closely with the aeronautical authorities of Mexico to recover aviation category 1 under the FAA’s International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) program and in accordance with United Nations (UN) International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
This opening occurs in the midst of an effort by the Mexican government to release demand from the saturated AICM, as well as to try to migrate all cargo flights to the new Felipe Ángeles.
The AIFA, a priority work of López Obrador, transported 912,415 national and international passengers between March, when it was inaugurated, and December 2022, 62% below the goal of 2.4 million of its Master Development Plan.
