Part of what makes The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim so special to fans are the stories they can tell within the game, regardless of main or side quests. Another game that channels that spirit is Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor with his Nemesis system.
This creates a new gameplay experience full of player-driven stories and was one of the game’s key selling points. Now in a combination of Skyrim Y Shadow of Mordora modder has added the Nemesis System to Bethesda’s RPG with spectacular results.
For those who don’t know, the Nemesis System of Shadow of Mordor it was a way for the game to take enemies, and turn them into even more menacing enemies that bore a grudge against the player. Every time the player died at the hands of an orc, that orc was promoted and added to a list of Nemeses that the player could locate and fight again.
Unlike games like Skyrimin which players can die and reload their save games repeatedly to defeat an enemy, Shadow of Mordor would maintain a persistent world. Part of the fun of that system was failing and watching that enemy keep growing.
Thanks to patents from Warner Bros., the Nemesis System hasn’t made it to other games, but has now found an adaptation in Skyrim. Created by modder Syclonix, the mod of Shadow of Skyrim turns any enemy the player defeats into a uniquely named Nemesis. The upgraded enemy comes with increased stats and a special upgrade, such as a shield breaking ability, which makes players consider a new approach to combat.
The mod it also grants players a debuff on death and allows the Nemesis to steal players’ armor and use it to bolster their defense in later encounters. Players can remove their strongholds and retrieve their weapons and armor only by defeating their Nemesis.
Shadow of Skyrim allows players to have up to five nemeses at a time and keeps them within 25 player levels to ensure things are fair. Additionally, players can only have nemeses against standard Skyrim enemies, meaning quest NPCs or story characters are not allowed.
