It is one of the endings that has had the most debates.
In the year 2020 we had authentic games one after another, which caused the GOTY of that year to be very disputed, finally being The Last of Us Part II the winner of the statuette.
However, it must be said that the game was not without intense debate, since, aside from the absurd and medieval homophobic complaints, the end of the title caused quite a stir, since there were many complaints about the result shown, in which many did not understand how Naughty Dog decided to end the game like this. Before continuing reading, it should be made clear that what follows are fat spoilers for the gameso do not continue reading if you are interested in discovering it for yourself.
Complaints about the end of The Last of Us Part 2 were not few
It is known by many that those who did not know how to see beyond the symbology and the psyche of the end of The Last of Us Part 2, consider that Ellie should have killed Abbythis being a very recurrent complaint despite the fact that it lacks complete sense if we take into account the construction of the story and the narrative arc of Ellie.
Given this premise, the content creator and Youtuber, Speclizer, has created a mod in which several of these modified scenes can be seenin order to break with the script of The Last of Us Part 2. In this way, in this mod you get, give Ellie different weapons at key moments, among other elements, which could be equivalent to a different result as you can see in the video:
In this way, despite the fact that some facts can be changed, the cinematics will always be the same, since, in the end, the title is programmed to follow a specific line. Therefore, it is not possible to save Joel or kill Abby or perform many of the actions that fans want.
For the rest, it only remains to remember that The Last of Us Part 2 is available on PS4 with backwards compatibility with PS5. Also, the title is one of the most rumored to have a Director’s Cut that adds improvements to the current generation console from PlayStation.
