Health and economy are a binomial that defines well-being. That is why the alliance to promote health and wellness solutions between RX -provider of face-to-face events in more than 400 events in 22 countries and 43 industries- and the National Association of Self-Service and Department Stores (ANTAD) – which brings together 33 self-service chains, 14 department chains and 58 specialized chains-, is presented as a win-win deal.
Both firms devised Wellness Health & Expo, which will take place from June 06 to 08, 2023 at Expo Guadalajara, in the worthy “Pearl of the West”. It will be the first edition of this event in which the organizers expect to receive around 4,000 visitors, in an area that covers 6,500 square meters of exhibition floor, where there will be around 200 exhibitors, from pharmaceutical and clinical analysis laboratories to product distributors. from various verticals covering personal hygiene, maternity, Covid-19, healthy food and drinks, vitamins and more.
Visitors to this new expo will be managers and owners of pharmacies, who, in addition to seeing, knowing and negotiating products, will be able to learn about innovations in the sector and, for example, consultancy to operate and manage a pharmacy, such as payment platforms, schemes financing and refrigeration equipment, among others. ANTAD commented that through this alliance it seeks to benefit all consumers who go shopping in the more than 46 thousand stores of the chains associated with ANTAD.
“We know of the importance of the pharmaceutical sector, especially in the context of the pandemic, and of the immediate impact that we can have with consumers through the alliance with ANTAD. Without a doubt, it is a win-win agreement for everyone, including consumers, of course, for which we are very pleased and have high expectations”, said Héctor Morfin Chong, Portfolio Director & Head of House, of RX Mexico.
In this space we have repeatedly said that Mexico has significant potential in the Latin American pharmaceutical industry, as it holds second place in the American subcontinent, only after Brazil. The pharmaceutical sector in our country has grown recurrently in recent years, well above the national economy.
Also, as the National Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry always reiterates, this is an industry that works as a tractor for other economic branches. To sample, a button is enough: in addition to the 100,000 direct and 500,000 indirect jobs it generates, it has 4% of the manufacturing GDP and an impact on 162 other economic items. In the category of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), in 2020, when the pandemic began, this sector contributed 193.3 million dollars.
Let’s wait to see how this new event works, the first edition of which will be in Guadalajara, Jalisco, because we have great doubts as to whether one more expo was really needed in the health and pharmaceutical sector…
That the fifth wave is going down
For the Ministry of Health (SSa) the Covid-19 pandemic has a very clear downward trend in Mexico, including deaths and hospitalizations. In other words, a reduction in the epidemic is observed, which means that there are fewer cases in one week compared to the previous one.
Hospital occupancy was at 18% in general beds, but now it is at 16%; 5% of beds with a ventilator remains stable, because we know that the duration of intubated patients is longer.
Regarding mortality, according to the health authority, there has also been a reduction, which is attributed 100% to the fact that “anti-Covid vaccination has reduced the risk of hospitalization and death.”
In this sense, it is important to say that López-Gatell highlighted the “accelerated progress” in the application of anti-Covid vaccines in girls, boys from 5 to 11 years old, registering 31% of the scheduled coverage to apply the doses “until completing the goal”.
Let’s hope that now -after the pauses due to the delay in shipments of batches of Pfizer’s pediatric biological- all the children of that age group complete their vaccination schedule against the new virus that is traveling the world.
