The Bitcoin meme “Wen Lambo” could be making a comeback. For JayFab, a Reddit user who owns and operates a welding and manufacturing company, it certainly is.
Working in Kansas City, Missouri, in the Midwest, JayFab told Cointelegraph that he was paid in Bitcoin (BTC) for repairs made to a Lamborghini Aventador.
JayFab told Cointelegraph that receiving Bitcoin for repairing the car was his “first legitimate transaction,” even though he first got into Bitcoin in 2016.
“From there [2016]I dove deep into the industry to learn about it, understand the technology, and possibly get a second chance in the future.”
He explains that the payment was easy: When JayFab asked for the bill for the repairs, the owner of the Lambo had no cash and simply said, “Give me a wallet address, would you?” To which JayFab replied, “Yeah sure!”
With that, JayFab was paid in Bitcoin to fix an “$8,500 titanium exhaust system” and put “some nice pipes on it to make it louder and make other improvements”and the Bitcoin blockchain revved up its own engines toward the next block.
The mechanic’s stock discussion first circulated on the Bitcoin subreddit where, unsurprisingly, the discussion focused on capital gains and tax implications.
For JayFab, however, “the weather here [en el Medio Oeste] for cryptocurrencies it’s almost non-existent, in my opinion, because it’s very blue collar and agricultural in terms of economic energy.”
Grassroots adoption stories in Bitcoin are growing, while Bitcoin transactions in neighboring Kansas are not unheard of. In 2014, a buyer from Kansas bought a house for half a million dollars with Bitcoin.
JayFab would like to make it clear that “with more adoption, I hope I can find my place in creating or providing services for cryptocurrencies.” In addition to accepting Bitcoin as payment for repairing the Lambo, he also sells “exotic jobs” and “crypto-themed furniture/items” on popular Bitcoin marketplace Bitify.
Naturally, the pieces he makes by hand can be paid for with cryptocurrencies.
