SAIC Motors have packed up. The Asian giant, owned by MG, is about to reveal a new sedan worthy of the E segment, a serious contender for the Chinese market. This is the MG7 2023, a model that exudes elegance and great sportsmanship in view of the first teasers that have been seen.
The British firm has an important novelty ready to debut in just a few days. Its about new MG7, a sedan that has been designed starting from a blank sheet of paper and that, for now, will only be destined for the Asian giant. In fact, it has been in China where leaked a series of teasers that, practically, have revealed to this new generation of a model that disappeared in 2013.
The MG7 exudes both elegance and sportiness, reproducing the new MG characters, with a design that looks modern and very sharp, with a bold fastback silhouette thanks to a roof line that slopes very smoothly towards the rear and creating a special rear pillar together with the muscular rear wings. MG stylists have deployed experience to give the model some balanced proportions, typical of an E segment and with a side full of lines that transmit dynamism.
MG7 2023, black label sportiness and elegance
And it is that these very special features are part of a range with a greater cachet and prestige than those of MG have designed for China, being the MG7 the first model of this range baptized as «Black Label», in which style will be one of the priorities. The model stands out for a front as aerodynamic as that of the new MG4 Electric with fine LED headlights that give a more aggressive look, along with the large grille.
At the rear, the pilots extend from end to end, also highlighting the four escapes grouped in two pairs. For now, MG has not shown the interior, but looking at the exterior, it promises a more than sophisticated interior for passengers to travel with great comfort in little more than 4.8 meters that this sedan measuresand in which the most advanced technology and connectivity will be flags.
Chinese sources point out that the new MG7 will offer a powerful four-cylinder engine and 2.0-liter turbo with a maximum power that will reach 257 hp in the “Trophy” version. The finish featured in these leaked previews, as can be seen in the anagram on the rear pillar, associated with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Although no data has been confirmed, the arrival of a 1.5-liter turbo with a maximum power of 185 hp, with a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission and at least one plug-in hybrid option by mid-2023.
