EA will make major changes to its PC game sales platform, Origin. The BioWare Points virtual currency of the platform will cease to exist and cannot be acquired or used after its withdrawal from this service. For this reason, a lot of DLCs from sagas like Mass Effect and Dragon Age become free on EA’s platform. Most of the DLC for Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 that previously could only be purchased with BioWare points are now available for free.

One particular exception is the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer packs, which are still I know will be able to buy with BioWare Points until the coin is discontinued on October 11. After this date, multiplayer packs can only be redeemed with credits earned in-game. One thing to note is that currencies like Crystal and Platinum in other BioWare games are not affected.

Recently, BioWare revealed that the new Dragon Age game titled as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Also in early July, BioWare confirmed that Mary DeMarle, the writer behind the modern Deus Ex and Guardians of the Galaxy games, would be joining the Mass Effect team as narrative director.
