In times when subscriptions to platforms of streaming experience downturns due to price increases or user economic fluctuations, Google is inventing an idea that could accumulate audiences and with them, more income for the big G.
Google is considering the option that users can watch Netflix and Disney Plus from YouTube. “Basically, YouTube would be the hub of all your subscriptions, which could attract more customers by having more content in one service and watching it all directly from there. First they could be Netflix and Disney Plus”, quoted the Computer Group.
What will it offer?
“What YouTube would offer at the time when this plan becomes a reality would be a kind of store, something similar to what Amazon Prime Video offers today. This last platform does not only offer its own content, but it is also possible to access other platforms.
This would mean that, in practical terms, a subscriber who is interested in Disney Plus could access the platform through YouTube with the payment of the corresponding fee. Netflix would enter the same dynamic among other possible services that could be added to the catalog.
However, it is important to be attentive to the health of the business. Walt Disney’s quarterly report reports that the streaming service reached a total of 221.1 million subscribers. In this way, it will be surpassing Netflix for the first time, which has 220.6 million users. Of course, the upload involves not only Disney+, but also counts ESPN and Hulu (including Live TV).
Apparently, a new type of television is being imposed more and more, if you can call it that, since the screens can be anywhere but with content chosen by the user, and not following an imposed schedule with content that does not interest everyone. Precisely this unidirectionality is what is causing the crisis of traditional television.
follow a pattern
Google has been plotting this strategy for about a year and a half and it is believed that this year they will announce what the package will be like to get more out of YouTube. It will be necessary to know the prices and if the offer is really going to captivate users who are looking for quality content without damaging their income.
For each extra platform that you want to access from Amazon Prime Video, you would have to pay its corresponding fee, and this is what Google would be working on with YouTube.
