EFE. The Ministry of Health of the government of Mexico reported this Friday 725 new deaths from Covid-19 to add a total of 262 thousand 221 deaths, in addition to another 17 thousand 409 new cases for a total of three million 405 thousand 294, during the third wave of the pandemic in the country.
Despite the rebound in infections, the Mexican government said earlier this week that the third wave of infections registers “a sustained trend” downward after almost three months of having started. Even Mexico City, the epicenter of the pandemic, will go to a yellow traffic light next Monday and will authorize the opening of clubs, bars and canteens.

The health authorities recognize that, based on the death certificates, the pandemic would be around 400 thousand deaths in the country and estimate that Mexico actually accumulates three million 615 thousand 028 cases of Covid-19 infections.
Of this total number, 108 thousand 655 are active cases, which have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and which account for 3%.
In addition, since the beginning of the pandemic, two million 744 thousand 885 people have been recovered.
The average occupancy of general beds in Mexican hospitals is 48% and 43% for intensive care beds.
Regarding deaths, Mexico City -the focus of the pandemic- accumulates 18.7% of all deaths nationwide from Covid-19.
In addition, the authorities reported that from September 6 to 19 of the 32 states of the country, none are in a red epidemiological traffic light (maximum risk), while 17 will be in orange (high risk), 13 in yellow (medium risk), among they are Mexico City, and two are green (low risk).

The authorities also indicated that so far the vaccination program, which includes all those over 18 years of age, has administered 86.3 million doses of the vaccine against Covid-19, adding 461,794 in the last day.
The report also specified that 35.03 million people have completed the vaccination scheme, out of the total 126 million inhabitants that the country has.
Since the end of December 2020, the country has received 103.29 million doses of the Anglo-Swedish vaccines AstraZeneca, the Russian Sputnik V, the American Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna, in addition to the Chinese CanSino and Sinovac.
