Experts say loving parenting is the best form of parenting.
It is common for some parents to spank or hit their children as a way to educate them. But experts have found that corporal punishment can be an immediate release from frustration for the caregiver, however, as with most acts of aggression, it has long-term negative effects.
Experts comment that babies learn what life is, from the way they are treated. Therefore, punishment has several detrimental effects:
– The baby will have less confidence in his caregiver and will not see him as someone safe to relax.
– The baby will have less self-confidence, because the caregivers have taught him that his impulses are not important or even bad, undermining his self-development.
– If caregivers punish babies who want to explore, they can weaken the motivation for learning.
– The baby will learn that it is better to suppress his interests.
– Also, studies show that misbehavior increases after a child is hit.
– Physiologically, punishment will activate the stress response, which is not advisable in early life when setting operating parameters. That stress can permanently damage systems, minimizing well-being and intellectual growth, as well as hindering social relationships.
