Today there are endless products for the skin care and many times it is confusing to know the order of application, how to do it, etc.
The success of any skin care routine lies in following it with dedication, however, sometimes we can self-sabotage ourselves in the search for the best result by making mistakes that, although they may not seem like it, affect us instead of benefiting us.
Therefore, Ailin Hernández, co-founder of ASH Natural Concept, explains five things you may be doing wrong in your skincare routine and you didn’t know
1. You apply your products in the wrong order
The correct sequence for applying skin care is crucial if you want to get the most out of your products. Start with those that are lighter, for example facial shampoo, lotion, specialized treatment for breakouts, serum and sunscreen; that is, liquids, gels and creams.
The serum goes before the sunscreen because if you apply a moisturizer after the SPF it will decrease its effectiveness.
two. Choose products with comedogenic ingredients (especially if you have oily skin)
These products have the ability to clog pores, and in case you have oily skin, you are benefiting from the appearance of breakouts. The ideal is to opt for products that are free of mineral oils and that contain natural active ingredients such as mint extract, tea tree oil, menthol, etc.
3. Exposing your products to sudden changes in temperature
If you don’t store your skincare products properly, you won’t get their full benefits. Keep them away from the sun and in a cool place, because if they get hot because on a hot day you forgot to store them and they received direct sunlight, they could lose their properties and oxidize, especially those that have citrus active ingredients such as vitamin C , retinol, among others.
Four. Not giving your skincare line enough time to deliver results
As you know, skin care products are not magical, and like everything, it takes a process and time to start seeing results. For example, you should clean your face with the shampoo for at least a minute to remove most of the dirt accumulated in your pores, wait for the serum to absorb into your skin before the next step, etc.
5. Apply your products incorrectly
Facial care products should be applied from the bottom up; that is, from neck to forehead with a soft application in small touches. This will allow all of the product you apply to absorb into your skin.
