Leading work teams, in addition to being a great opportunity to learn, is also the best time to open up to new ways of thinking, practice empathy and be open to different ideas.
Being a team leader means serving, motivating, teaching and learning. It does not mean commanding, imposing and being superior to the members of your team.
It is a great fortune to be able to serve a team where you learn together, where each of the members has their expertise and shares it with the others. Where you are humble and accept that you don’t know everything, where you accept mistakes to promote innovation.
Also as a leader you have to let your people grow and motivate them to grow professionally, ideally it should be in the same team or company; however, it can also be outside.
As well as technical skills in a strong and united marketing team; Soft skills must be acquired that are not often developed and that I am convinced are the key for a team to remain strong and united despite adversity.
The first: Adaptability; a skill that is very important in work teams, especially in this changing world where we are constantly changing all the time and if work teams can cope with change, adapt quickly and consequently make decisions, they are teams that manage to overcome many obstacles together.
The second: Conflict resolution; in work teams it is inevitable to have conflicts, it is part of daily coexistence, the important thing with this skill is that all team members are clear that nothing is personal and that they have to learn to see for the common good rather than for the individuals and that everyone is on the team for a reason and that they have to focus on this. That it is very important to resolve conflicts in order to move forward and achieve the goal together without trying to avoid the conflict.
Third: Positivism; believe me this is one of the key skills for a strong and solid team. It is not necessarily that you see everything rosy and that nothing happens, however, if this skill is very well developed in a team, they will achieve things that at first glance would seem impossible, but with the simple fact of thinking positively, things can be achieved. unimaginable.
A strong and united marketing team must have the ability to adapt to change, the ability to resolve conflicts for the benefit of the group objective and be very positive to achieve even the unimaginable.
I have the pride and honor of belonging to such a team, thank you team.
I close with this phrase from Patrick Lencioni; Working as a team is not a virtue, it is a conscious and voluntary choice that arises by building bonds of trust based on the human vulnerability shown by the members of the team, in the face of their mistakes, fears and difficulties.
Happy Thursday.
